The Connecticut Association for the Education of Young Children promotes high quality early learning for all children, birth through age 8 by connecting practice, policy and research. WHAT'S HAPPENING AT CTAEYC
On April 9, Early Childhood Educators from around
the state joined CTAEYC and CTECA at the state capitol
for a day of advocacy and community.
CTAEYC staff joined state and national leaders at the Shaping Tomorrows Conversation Panel at the LOB
Katie Hagen had the honor of representing CTAEYC at a press conference with United Way and Office of Lt. Governor Susan Bysiewicz to celebrate the tremendous contributions of childcare providers in our state, as she presented 211 Child Care with a proclamation from Office of Governor Ned Lamont declaring
May 10 Provider Appreciation Day!
Karen Rainville, Deb Flis,
and Elena Trueworthy convened in
Washington, DC with leadership
from 9 other states to talk about quality
early childhood education in the US.
CTAEYC Executive Director Karen Rainville
is in Florida at the National Shared Services Technical Conference. She is following the
“Solving the ECE Workforce Crisis”
track and we are looking forward to hearing
more about the sessions she attended.
CTAEYC welcomed the McCormick Center for Early Childhood Leadership
to CT to train a group of ECE professionals on the Business Administration Scale (BAS).
Family childcare providers who utilize effective business and professional practices are more likely to provide
a high-quality learning environment and interact more sensitively with children. Using the BAS, providers can
easily set goals to incrementally improve business practices that will result in improved recordkeeping, marketing,
and communication with families, as well as financial stability and reduced risk of operating a home business.

is wrapping up and the CT state team is networking
with other advocates in the field.
Our team met with lawmakers to amplify the voices
of Connecticut early childhood educators and push
for policies that support the children, families,
and educators in our state!
On Saturday, April 12, 2025, educators gathered at Capitol College in Hartford for a Cycle Of Intentional Teaching professional development workshop.
